Decision on council homes 'in autumn'
A decision on the future of the borough's council housing is not expected before the early autumn.
More information is required before a decision can be taken on whether keeping homes in-house or selling them to a housing association-style organisation makes more financial sense.
The government is due to make an announcement about changes to council housing finances that will change the landscape and make the in-house option more attractive.
Joanne Drew, interim director of housing, told a meeting of the Dacorum Borough Council's social scrutiny committee: "We have not received the minister's announcement about self funding. Clearly that is a disappointment."
She said a government consultation and further work would be required following the announcement.
"We anticipate that being available early autumn time so we can then go out and talk to tenants," she said.
"In realistic terms we are not looking at being able to make a decision either way until August, September time."
She added: "The aim is to bring people towards a consensus way forward."
The controversial sell-off can only go ahead if supported in a ballot of tenants.
The council was originally intending to consult with tenants earlier this year until it became clear the government changes had altered the framework of the debate.
