Seven groups have been given cash totalling more than £17,000 under a community initiative.
Destination Dacorum, made up of borough and county councils, police, the NHS, businesses and voluntary groups, invited organisations to apply for funding. They had to show how their project would contribute towards the economic wellbeing of the borough.
Groundwork Herts Greenaiders was awarded £2,472 for new tools for work to help vulnerable and older people maintain their gardens.
Community centre-based Dacorum Communities for Learning was given £4,000 for laptops to provide affordable IT training. The Box Moor Trust was given £3,000 for a bicycle shelter and visitor leaflets. Dacorum Citizens Advice Bureau got £1,800 to buy laptops for outreach work and South Hill Centre received £3,500 for computers as part of unemployment support. The Dacorum Heritage Trust was given £1,800 for portable display cases, while Accessible Dacorum will spend £763 on business networking.
