Developer asks for more time

editorial image

The developers behind a controversial housing development have applied for more time in which to start building.

An appeal was won by Banner Homes Ltd in January 2010 for approval to build 40 homes on a protected area of the Chilterns.

The plans to build the homes at Manor Farm on Dunstable Road in Markyate were initially refused by Dacorum Borough Council first in 2007 and then in 2009.

Concerns were raised by Markyate Parish Council, village residents and borough councillors over the suitability of building the homes in an area of outstanding natural beauty and the development’s design.

The decision to extend the permission or not now rests with the borough council.
