A SAFE drinking campaign is being launched to coincide with the start of the Euro 2012 football tournament.

Police chiefs are urging people to drink sensibly during summer events including the Olympics, music festivals and Euro 2012.

Chief Insp David Partridge said: “The overwhelming majority of football fans who either travel to the tournament or watch the matches at home or in a bar or pub are law-abiding and peaceful.

“However, we will act robustly to deal with any troublemakers and drunk and disorderly members of the public.”

Herts police warns you are more likely to commit crime or be a victim of crime if you are drunk.
