Double delight for hockey club

It was a case of double delight for the ladies section of Tring Hockey Club.

With just two teams playing and both winning, the ladies had a 100 per cent success rate.

In each game there were two Tring players who notched braces.

The first team beat Leighton Buzzard 4-1, with Jenny Wrench and Lissa Humphris each scoring twice, while the IIIs beat West Herts 4-2.

This time it was Katie Hart and Jenny Stokes who each notched two apiece.

For the men it was only one side - the IIs - who got all three points in their game.

Keeper Dave Wain was the hero as he saved a penalty flick during the 2-1 victory over Wallingford.

Dave Jones and Russell Pert got the decisive goals.

The men's top team (pictured right) went down 4-1 at home to Bracknell, following in the footsteps of the town's rugby side (see p37).

The IIIs fought back from 3-1 down to make it three apiece with Sonning, but they lost controversially in the last minute.

Ian Styles, Andy Aikens and Freddie Bruce got the Tring team's goals.

The Vets put up a good display despite losing 4-1 to St Albans, Jim Watson netting the consolation.

The SuperVets shared the points with Richmond, with Mark Gillett scoring Tring's goal in a 1-1 draw.
