Emily masterminds her way to the top

Young experts of top children's author Sue Hampton took to the hot seat in a mastermind themed competition on Thursday.

Fans of Ms Hampton, a former St Mary's School teacher of Lincoln Court, in Berkhamsted, were asked a series of questions about the author, who has had a series of popular books published by Pegasus.

The overall winner was announced at Waterstone's on Berkhamsted High Street.

Following a tight final, 10-year-old Emily Slay of Bridgewater School was crowned the winner.

Ms Hampton's next book, Ongalonging, which is due out this Christmas, will be dedicated to super fan Emily.

One of the questions participants had to answer was 'I like Sue Hampton books because .....' to which Emily answered '... they make me feel as though I am with the characters and part of the story."

The other finalists were given a host of goodies including signed books and unpublished manuscripts.
