Evidence unsuccessful

A leading piece of evidence in a police arson investigation has been unsuccessful in nailing the suspect.

Police carried out forensics tests on an aerosol can found in November at Tring Athletic's torched clubhouse on Miswell Lane.

But analysis of prints on the can has left the police no further in their hunt for the offender.

Det Insp Fraser Wylie said: "The forensics on that aerosol have not come back with anything positive for us.

"We look at evidence and what it is telling us and that helps us detect who is responsible for the crime. It is not always that that results in what you want.

"It is always disappointing when you don't solve a crime. But it is equally disappointing that those individuals concerned haven't come forward to speak to us."

The clubhouse was twice the target of arsonists over a fortnight in October, when 15,000 of damage was caused.
