Staff at a Hemel Hempstead-based firm threw their weight behind a charity campaign.

Workers at Eckoh, which has its headquaters in Corner Hall, raised more than £6,500 during the 12-month drive in support of Voice, a national charity which aims to improve the lives of more than 64,000 children and young people in care.

The fundraisers at Eckoh, which specialises in providing speech recognition and payment services for large call centres, ran a series of fundraising events ranging included anything from cake and breakfast sales to two people running the London Marathon.

Voice chief executive Andrew Radford, who came to Hemel Hempstead to receive the donation, said: “I’m delighted to receive the cheque from Eckoh on behalf of Voice. We rely heavily on corporate fundraising initiatives such as these to ensure we continue to provide the most vulnerable young people in our society with the help they need.”

Voice, which has a regional offices in Hatfield, works directly with more than 5,000 children and young people each year.

Eckoh chief executive Nik Philpot added: “Voice has reached out to so many children and young people in care and I’m really proud of the commitment shown by everyone at Eckoh to raise money for their cause.

“Two of our team in particular trained exceptionally hard to run the London Marathon for Voice which alone raised over £1,500.”
