Fuel leak at petrol station

Emergency crews shut a busy dual carriageway following a fuel leak at a petrol station.

The power was shut down at the BP garage on Breakspear Way, Hemel Hempstead, at around 1.30pm on Monday (March 8) after liquefied petroleum gas leaked from a pump.

The dual carriageway leading to J8 of the M1 was shut in both directions and access from Green Lane and Maylands was closed off while an engineer made the area safe.

Police reopened the roads at around 5pm.

The garage remains closed today (Tuesday) while work is carried out to confirm the cause of the leak.
