Fundraising for Macy
Baby Macy Cruickshanks underwent open heart surgery at just three weeks old. Money is being raised in her memory to keep a specialist children's intenstive care unit at the Royal Brompton Hospital open.
Family and friends of the parents of a newborn baby who died from a heart condition are getting behind their fundraising drive.
Helen and Paul Cruickshanks, of Tile Kiln Lane, Leverstock Green, are supporting a threatened paediatric unit at Chelsea’s Royal Brompton Hospital, where baby Macy was treated for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy – a thickening of the heart muscle. She had open heart surgery at just three weeks old but never woke up.
Helen’s older sister Sharon Raine, of Warners End, is doing a sponsored slim-athon while younger sister Jo Kenny raised £250 through a cake sale and raffle at her work Hemel Hemsptead’s Hewitt Associates. Helen and Paul are running 10k with pals in May and friend Kirsty Mussell is tackling the Brighton Marathon.
