Gary tells Ella: say no to dancing like 90s pop group Steps

X Factor’s Ella Henderson got to use her dance training to bust some moves on stage during Saturday night’s show.

But the former Tring Park schoolgirl’s dancing did not go down well with grumpy judge Gary Barlow, who said the 16-year-old should stick to singing and compared her to artist Adele.

Ella sung You’ve Got the Love for the club classics themed week and got the thumbs up from the show’s other three judges.

But the Take That star said: “I think dance moves and moves that were done by Steps in the ’90s really cheapens your act. Say no in the future. You are great just singing.”

Mentor Tulisa Contostavlos said it was a chance for the teenager to act her age.

Ella, who attended Tring Park for the Performing Arts, is one of the favourites to win the ITV show, which said goodbye to double act MK1 on Sunday.
