Hemel man charged with murder

A Hemel Hempstead man has been charged with murder this morning following the death of Thomas Baird.

The 63-year-old was discovered dead at his home following a blaze at the bungalow in Westerdale, Highfield, just after midnight on Friday.

James Carbott, 30, of Epping Green, Hemel Hempstead, appeared at Hatfield Remand Court today where it was ordered that he be held in custody until a further hearing tomorrow.

A post mortem examination revealed that Mr Baird died from trauma injuries to his head and neck and stab wounds to his chest.
