Litter bugs face fines

Tough powers to curb litter will come into force next month.

From April 1 Dacorum Borough Council will be taking a hard line with litterbugs.

Those caught treating the streets like a dump will be hit in the pocket with a fixed penalty notice of up to 75.

Thousand of pounds in taxpayers money is spent each year to clean the borough's streets.

However, in the last national government survey about living in the area, 43 per cent of respondents said that clean streets were the most important factor in making Dacorum a good place to live.

To highlight the litter message a Let's Tidy Dacorum Together roadshow will be in Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead on Monday afternoon
