A man from Hemel Hempstead has been jailed for 11 years for committing a robbery at an off licence.

Marc Lofting, 21, of The Denes, Hemel Hempstead, appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday, January 15, and pleaded guilty to robbing Dawn 2 Dusk in The Heights on November 22 2012.

Lofting went into the store wearing a balaclava, fired what was believed to be an air pistol at an employee’s face and demanded they open the till.

The employee refused and was fired at twice more. Lofting then took a bottle of whisky and made off, without any money from the till.

Det Insp Justine Jenkins said: “This is a very long sentence and it is right he should serve this time for the crime he committed.

“Lofting showed no hesitation in shooting at the employee in the store, which must have been an incredibly scary experience for them. I’m pleased justice has been served.”
