Mum's shock at CD's Black Eyed sleaze
A mum has hit out after her young son learnt some colourful language through the songs on a CD he won at a school disco.
Nevaeh Perry-Bartlett did not realise the musical lyrics contained swear words until eight year old Zethan had been listening to the songs for almost two weeks.
"My son was in his bedroom and he was playing with friends that had come over for the weekend. My friend's little girl came downstairs and said there was swearing," said Mrs Perry-Bartlett, of Hobletts Road in Hemel Hempstead.
"I was absolutely fuming. I wasn't impressed at all. All I could do was be really apologetic to the family that were here. I was so cross."
Zephan had won the CD during a Valentine's Day disco at Hobletts Manor Junior School, so his mum assumed it was safe for young ears.
But she said a song called Boom Boom Pow by Black Eyed Peas and Bad Romance by Lady Gaga contained expletives.
Protective Mrs Perry-Bartlett, who also has a five year old daughter, does not usually let Zethan go to after-school events.
"He begged me that he wanted to go so I let him. I won't be letting him go in the future," said the 29-year-old stay at home mum.
Spokesman for the Adeyfield Road school Andrew Dawson, from Herts County Council, said: "The CD was not given by a member of school staff but by a reputable DJ as a prize for winning a competition at a fun event organised for the benefit of pupils.
"The DJ was not aware that it contained any explicit lyrics. As soon as the chair of the friends' association that organised the event became aware of what had happened, they immediately apologised to the parent for any offence caused by this genuine mistake."
