Painter is picture of success
A painter is the picture of success after his work was chosen for a prestigious art exhibition.
Brian Robinson's boat paintings will now appear in the Royal Institute of Watercolours' 2010 Exhibition.
The 70-year-old artist, from Malting Lane, Aldbury, was previously a graphic designer who painted as a hobby, but decided to sell his work to earn a living around 10 years ago.
Now Mr Robinson, who lives with wife Jackie, is doing his dream job and has been told two of his paintings will be displayed at the show in Pall Mall, London.
The first of his paintings chosen is of bouys at a quay in Kings Lynn, while the second is a green gate in Venice reflected in the water.
"I love painting the reflections and any chance I get to paint one I will do it," he said.
"I like to make water look like water."
The artist, who has a son Gideon, 42, and daughter Jessicca, 28, said there is a friendly family rivalry with fellow painters John, his brother, and sister Julia Metcalfe.
"Both my brother and sister paint as well. I suspect there is a bit of sibling rivalry that goes on so that is another reason I am chuffed to get the paintings into the exhibition," he said.
"Needless to say, I am very excited with my success and want to share it with everyone, especially those who have bought my paintings all over the years in local exhibitions in the Dacorum area."
