Pony sanctuary marks one year with open day

A PONY sanctuary will celebrate its first year of helping unwanted animals by opening its doors to the public.
Carol Buchorski started off helping ponies but now takes in all sorts of animals including pigs, chickens, geese and ducks at the Two Oaks Pony Sanctuary in Darrs Lane, Northchurch.
“I started off taking in the odd waif and stray and then I just got more and more so I turned it into a sanctuary,” said Carol.
It costs around £20,000 to run each year and depends on donations and fundraising events.
Carol said: “It has been a bit tough but I have got through the first year so I’m hoping it will improve.”
On Sunday, June 17, from midday to 4pm, there will be a barbecue, stalls, arts and crafts, a fun dog show open to visitors and their four-legged friends, tombola and the new pets corner will be opened.
