Prison worker gave inmate saucy snaps

A woman prison worker, whose job was helping inmates back into the community, sent saucy pictures of herself to a long term prisoner.

The images Monica Davis secretly handed over included shots of her posing in stockings and underwear as well as more intimate ones.

In return, the prisoner sent a video clip to her mobile phone showing him performing a sex act.

On Monday (September 6), St Albans Crown Court was told the relationship between Davis, 48, and the prisoner lasted from June of last year to Easter this year.

On three occasions she had been spoken to by her bosses at The Mount Prison in Bovingdon, who told her the relationship was inappropriate and to spend less time with the prisoner.

In the dock Miss Davis, of East Drive, Watford, pleaded guilty to a charge of bringing or conveying a list C article into the prison, as well as a second charge of taking a restricted document out of the prison.

Jane Hayne prosecuting said the charges related to taking photos in and out of the category three prison, which is for offenders deemed to be of medium to low risk.

Davis worked for the Foundation Training Company, which is a registered charity contracted to the prison and probation services to help resettle prisoners back into the community.

Recorder Nerys Jefford QC sentenced Davis to three months imprisonment suspended for 12 months and told her she must carry out 100 hours of unpaid work. She was also told she must pay 250 towards the prosecution costs.

The forfeit and destruction of all the photographs and videos was ordered.

The recorder told Davis she had become infatuated with the prisoner and said to her: "It's accepted you knew the relationship was inappropriate."

She said Davis had breached the trust placed in her by her employers, other prisoners and the public.

Monica Davis.
