Saffron moves one step closer to claiming the Tiffin Cup

A RESTAURANT is one step closer to claiming a national accolade.

Each year members of parliament are invited to nominate the best South Asian restaurant in their area for the Tiffin Cup.

In Hemel Hempstead Mike Penning asks restaurants to enter by getting diners to vote by signing a form of support.

Saffron in Hemel Hempstead’s Old Town got the most votes, followed closely behind by the Cinnamon Lounge in Kings Langley.

The winning restaurant will go through to the next round when they will be visited by a mystery diner. The finalists will be invited to attend a Grand Final Cook Off at Bellamy’s Restaurant in the Houses of Parliament.

Mr Penning said: “I congratulate Saffron and hope that they get through to the grand final in London.

“We’ve only managed to get to it once and I really hope this year will be our turn again.”
