Second hand furniture store helps homeless
MCHG 12-772 Terry Waite was guest of honour at Emmaus in London Road Hemel Hempstead.
A good cause that teaches homeless people new skills and puts a roof over their heads has opened a shop in Hemel Hempstead.
Emmaus takes donations of second-hand furniture which are refurbished and then sold to bring in cash for the charity.
Spokesman Tony Ferrier said: “We give them a safe place to live and work and give them the training and in many cases they then move on into jobs.”
The charity moved into in the former Cane Shop in London Road earlier this month. It is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
