Shamed former mayor remains on honour roll

editorial image

A disgraced former mayor currently serving time behind bars will not be removed from a council’s roll of dignitaries.

The picture and name plaque of Stephen Holmes in the Dacorum Civic Centre’s public gallery of mayors was removed after his dealings in the seedy world of child pornography came to light.

But leader of the council Andrew Williams said it would be too ‘problematic’ and could possibly cause damage to remove Holmes from a public plaque in the Marlowes offices that shows the names of all former mayors.

In October Holmes, who lived in Woodhall Farm and before his arrest was both a borough and county councillor, was jailed for 10 months after pleading guilty to collecting a massive stockpile of child abuse images and movie clips.
