Spate of garage burglaries

Thieves are being hunted by police after a spate of garage burglaries.

Criminals targeted five garages in six days between March 12 and March 17.

Offenders forced their way into a garage in New Road, Tring, and stole a chainsaw between 5pm on Friday, March 12 and 12pm on Sunday, March 14.

Four lock-up garages – including two in Faversham Close and one in Kingsley Walk – had their locks forced between Monday, March 15 and Wednesday, March 17.

The other offence took place in Buckingham Road when the burglars were disturbed at around 1am on March 17.

Thieves attacked a van and stole items before making their getaway in a light-coloured Mercedes or BMW with a noise exhaust, described as old-style.

Police are warning residents to pay attention to anyone they suspect is taking an interest in their property.

Anyone who wants to report suspicious behaviour can call 999, but residents are being advised by police not to approach suspected thieves.
