Brave spider-woman Sue Woolnough conquered lifelong fears to hold a terrifying tarantula and raise cash for a good cause.

Sue, education manager at The Paper Trail, in Apsley, got a round of applause from colleagues and visitors to the historic tourist attraction who witnessed the fear-conquering feat. Sue said: “I just had to keep thinking small furry animal.” So far she has raised over £800 towards brown tourist signs to put The Paper Trail and Frogmore Paper Mill on the map.The giant hairy female Chilean Rose tarantula had come from Ameyzoo in Bovingdon with owner and reptile specialist Mark Amey, who offers Face your phobia sessions with some of their exotic pets.
