Table-toppers put cup woes behind them
Berkhamsted forgot about their two cup exits in succession and got on with the job of pushing for the league title.
They showed just why they top MSSML Division Two with a comprehensive defeat 2-1 away defeat of form side MK Wanderers.
"These are a really valuable three points," said manager Micky Vipond. "It was a really good reaction after going out the cups."
Should Vipond gain promotion this year, he has hopes of making it into the Premier Division, where he would face familiar foes in the form of former club Leverstock Green.
"If we go up I can get players to come and help us get into the Premier Division. I'm just hoping that's what we can achieve."
His side's win certainly helped their cause.
They went behind but when James Armstrong was felled in the area just three minutes later.
Green's top goalscorer made no mistake from the spot - picking himself up to convert the penalty for goal number 30 this season.
The winner came when Lawrence Bunker got onto a long ball and found the inside of the post. In spite of missing chances, Berko, who host Bletchley on Saturday, had Luke Bartlett to thank for clearing a late effort off the line.
Elsewhere Lewis Toomey and Sam Worrell earned Kings Langley a 2-1 win over Tokyngton Manor in Division One, Aston Clinton beat Bletchley 5-1 and Tring Corinthians beat Pitstone & Ivinghoe 2-1 in Division Two.
