Tea, cake and mountains in memory of grandad

editorial image

An opticians will give away tea and homemade cakes on Wednesday to help 28-year-old Gemma Abson raise money in memory of her grandad.

Her grandad Alan Milner, 69, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in late 2012 and died earlier this year.

Gemma and partner Rich Hudson, 29, of Grove Gardens, Tring, now plan to climb Britain’s three highest mountains in 24 hours to raise cash for The Brain Tumour Charity.

They will take on the Three Peaks Challenge, climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the Lake District, and Snowdon in Wales, from Saturday, July 13.

Gemma said: “I think we must be mad, taking on a challenge like this.”

But first Gemma and her work colleagues at Specsavers in Dolphin Square, Tring, will give away tea and cakes in return for donations to the charity. The give-away will last from 10am to 6.30pm on Wednesday.
