Thanks after promising auction

Event organisers have thanked people for their generosity after an auction raised thousands of pounds.

The auction of promises held at The Greyhound pub, Chesham Road, Wigginton, on February 27 raked in 2,300.

The proceeds will go to the Hospice of St Francis and Wigginton's firework display.

Glynis Sutton, a coordinator from organisers Friends of Wigginton, said: "The Friends of Wigginton would like to thank all those people who generously offered a promise, to those who parted with money and bought a promise and the Greyhound Pub.

"It was a great success and lots of people sent lots of money and we are all thrilled with how much we have raised.

"It all went very well indeed and we are thinking of making it an annual event."
