A POLICING plan reaching forward to 2015 has been announced by the Hertfordshire policing authority.

The plan, which was developed in consultation with the public, outlines a ‘commitment to maintaining a strong performance over the year ahead’, and £9 million of savings.

Hertfordshire chief constable Andy Bliss said: “Our focus for 2012/13 is on fighting crime and anti-social behaviour, developing our ‘local’ service and policing a uniquely challenging summer in 2012.

“A local service includes increased face to face contact with our communities through investigating crime, providing support to victims and pro-active, effective Safer Neighbourhood Teams.

“This summer encompasses the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, Euro 2012, huge music events at Knebworth and in Hitchin and, of course, the Olympic Torch Relay through the region as well as the Olympic Games themselves.”
