Tring men end losing streak

A run of three straight defeats came to an end as Tring's top men's hockey side smashed Sunbury.

Skipper Matt Hyde and James Kerr, playing his last game before going to university, led the way with two strikes apiece while Ashley Tillett and Ian Platt also notched in the 6-2 demolition.

The high flying ladies Is were made to work hard for a 3-3 draw at Broxbourne.

Jenny Wrench, Jenny Birch and Beckey Capstick were on all target, with skipper Bryony Bennett hoping to maintain that fighting spirit ahead of the trip to Shefford & Sandy in a battle between the division's top two sides.

The men's IIIs took part in a 15-goal thriller at Tring School, beating Bicester IIIs 9-6.

Kyle Purkiss and Greg Walton grabbed a brace each with Max Baiden, Nick Zagni, Dave Bonner, Simon Cobby and ChrisAikens also on the mark in a win that sends them fourth in their leaguee.

Hannah Prentice scored both the goals as ladies Development team beat Bedford Vs 2-0.

But it was not such good news elsewhere for Tring.

TheMixed XI were defeated 3-1 in the second round of the Mixed Hockey Cup by Dereham, Matt Hyde striking for Tring.

The men's IIs were beaten 3-0 at Milton Keynes, a spirited Development side were beaten 5-0 at High Wycombe, the Veterans conceded to Tunbridge Wells whilst the Supervets lost 6-2 to league leaders Spencer.

Mark Gillettand Tim Spencer were their scorers.

The ladies IIs went down 3-1 to Hertford despite a good strike from Katie Haines while the IIIs opened the scoring in the first minute through Jenny Stokes but they were trounced 9-1.

The U14 girls enjoyed their second win on the trot.

They fell behind three times to High Wycombe only for Hannah Prentice to follow-upher brace last week with hat-trick.

Abi Lawlor got the girls' other goal with a superb solo strike.
