Two morning smashes causes rush hour misery

editorial image

Two morning smashes meant rush hour chaos for those trying to get to work via the M1 today (Wednesday).

The first accident happened just after 7.30am between J7 and J8 of the northbound carriageway when a Mazda sports car careered off the road.

No other vehicles were involved and the Highways Agency dealt with the incident.

Then just before 7.50am, two cars - a silver Nissan Micra and black Volkswagen Passat - were involved in a collision between J9 and J8 southbound.

No one was injured.
