editorial image

A water firm has issued a warning to developers after taking one businessman to court for illegally connecting a new homes project to the mains.

The developer was fined more than £4,000 for breaches of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999.

Affinity Water prosecutor Tamsin Xerxes said: “We have the power to prosecute individuals and companies for statutory and regulatory offences concerning the use of water supplied by it.

“By doing so, we are ensuring that Affinity Water maintain high standards and this sends out a strong message that committing water-related offences will not be tolerated.”
