Work has begun to improve facilities at two Dacorum railway stations.

Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead stations will each see £500,000 invested to create step-free access with new lifts installed.

At Berkhamsted, a renovated subway, stairwells and concourse and increased bicycle storage will also be introduced, along with a new overbridge and waiting shelters and seating on the platforms.

Over the next two years, Hemel Hempstead will also benefit from a package of improvement works, under the government-backed National Stations Improvement Programme. Cycle storage provision has already been doubled at the station thanks to support from Herts County Council and the Department for Transport.
