A pair of valuable model steam engines were among items taken during a burglary in Kings Langley.

The fully-functional models were in the garage of a Beechfield home, which was broken into between 8.30pm on Tuesday, September 3 and 5.30pm the following day.

Det Con Paul Sammons said: “These are valuable but unique items and have features that allow us to identify them easily. We are concerned the offenders may try to sell them for scrap. This would be a real shame as they are of great sentimental value to the owner.”

Both engines are heavy and dark green. One is a Great Western locomotive and the other is a 6ft-long Lightning steam engine.

An electricity generator was also stolen in the break-in. Call police on 101 quoting the reference D1/13/4914 with information.
