Police are investigating a possible acid attack after an ‘unknown substance’ was thrown in a man’s face.
The attack happened just after 6pm last night (Thursday) at the Top of the World pub in Warners End.
It is understood that the substance was thrown at the man while he was outside the drinking venue.
He then went inside where it is alleged that he was hit in the face.
A Herts Police spokesman said: “Investigations are currently ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident however at this stage it is believed to have been a targeted attack.
“At the moment it is still unknown what the substance was so we can’t speculate on whether it’s an acid attack or not.”
Paramedics were called to reports of a man, aged in his 30s, who was unconscious.
The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to Watford General Hospital by ambulance.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police via the non-emergency number 101.
