One of the Cadbury Christmas trucks has been entertaining the crowds after rolling into nearby Aylesbury’s Market Square this morning (Monday).
The chocolate maker is getting in on the festive lorry act as they launch their new Christmas campaign hot on the heels of John Lewis and Coca-Cola.
The ad from the makers of Dairy Milk - set to the Thunderbirds theme - is one of the most loved adverts this Christmas and features an advent calendar formed from 24 Cadbury purple trucks, where every truck represents a different door of the advent calendar.
Cadbury promised to excite chocolate lovers across the country, with the fleet of treating trucks randomly visiting a different location across the UK every day in December for the ultimate Christmas countdown.
Those locations were being kept a closely guarded secret, though, with the firm aiming to turn up in any given town unannounced for the ultimate surprise unlike Coca-Cola which has revealed the locations it will visit - the nearest being Watford.
And the number seven truck turned up in Aylesbury town centre this morning and turned into a stage set up for the festivities.
Crowds have been gathering all afternoon for live music, which include beat box remixes of Christmas classics such as Jingle Bells and Walking in the Air.
Free chocolate was handed out while there were a series of games and activities on offer.
The modern Christmas Choir experience saw people serenaded with personalised carols to mark the seventh day of advent, with 17 more trucks set to follow suit, travelling across the UK throughout December as part of the most delicious countdown to Christmas.
The event invited members of the public to step up on to stage for the ultimate surprise. Once on stage a carolling Christmas Choir serenaded them with classic Christmas songs but with a joyful personalised touch and a modern twist which included beatboxing to the recognisable tunes.
Claire Low, marketing manager at Mondelèz International, said: “We know that classic Christmas carols get everyone in the festive mood and we felt this was the perfect way to continue our advent countdown.
“We wanted to create something that captured the excitement felt when opening the doors of your advent calendar. We loved seeing everyone enjoy the Christmas Choir and can’t wait to unleash even more joy when we open our next door tomorrow!”
