Budding vets and zoologists can still apply for a place on a hands-on course at Whipsnade’s Zoo Academy.

The eight-day courses are designed for 15-17 year olds interested in pursuing a career or further study with animals.

Practical tasks will include handling reptiles, cleaning out white rhinos, preparing food and carrying out a behaviour study of ring-tailed lemurs.

Participants will be able to create a portfolio to help them when applying for future study.

The deadline for applications has been extended to October 18.

There are weekend term-time and weekday school holiday courses available. For more details and to apply, visit zsl.org/shop/experiences/zoo-academy.
