Warm thanks to smooth operators who knitted 12,000 hats for Dacorum charity

A charity for the elderly has thanked dedicated Dacorum knitters who made 12,000 mini hats in aid of its winter warmth campaign.

Age UK Dacorum chairman Mike Moore said: “We’re grateful that so many local knitters have got behind the Big Knit – this campaign couldn’t happen without their support. The funds raised will go a long way towards supporting local winter projects such as our handyperson scheme and telephone club which are vital in helping older people through this difficult time of year.”

The hats will be sold on Innocent smoothie bottles in supermarkets from tomorrow, with each one sold generating 25p for the charity’s Spread the Warmth campaign.
