Hundreds of would-be chestnut challenge champs turned out for the annual conker festival at Blackbirds Moor in Hemel Hempstead on Sunday.
The event, which attracted up to 400 people, saw Hannah Mckenzie beat 31 people to win the adult conker game and Gabriele Davies, Kyra Richardson and Jessica Tripp all win against 21 youngsters in the children’s category.
There were 20 stalls selling a variety of locally produced crafts and foods as well as a pottery workshop, archery and entertainment by The Jolly Jazzers.
It was the 16th conker festival held by The Box Moor Trust.
The trust’s Jean Snide said: “It went very well and we were lucky with the weather again so everyone enjoyed it very much.”
There will be plenty more chances to enjoy the moor in the weeks ahead.
On October 27 and 28 there will be a variety of Harry Potter inspired activities from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm each day.
Also on Saturday, November 26 there will be an introduction to felting workshop. Call the Trust on 01442 253300 to make a booking
