A club for older people is appealing for new members to help safeguard its future.

The Evergreen Club – open to anyone aged over 55 – meets at Gadebridge Community Centre every Monday from 1.30pm for bingo, raffles and other games.

They also enjoy social evenings and day trips out. Irene Lippiatt, who has been a member since 1992, said: “We are quite active. We do have a Christmas lunch and social afternoons.

“It is quite lively but we are trying to get more people because if not we will just have to close the club, which seems an awful shame for the people that are there.

“We are quite a friendly group, we make anybody new welcome.

“We are not worried where they come
from – we are not saying only Gadebridge people.”
