Wife of man hit by car thankful to their helpers

THE WIFE of an elderly man who was hit by a car as he crossed the road was shaken by the incident.

Barbara Clark, 81, was in John Christopher hairdressers, at Lower Kings Road, Berkhamsted, when she heard James, 82, had been knocked down, on Wednesday, December 8.

“I really didn’t know what to do. I was shaken. When something like that comes along, you don’t know what to say or do,” she said.

Mrs Clark, who suffers from high blood pressure, was rushed to Watford General Hospital with her husband, who suffered facial cuts and a black eye.

“He was going to the bank before he came and picked m e up,” she said. “I think he was knocked out for a fraction of time, but he told them where I was.

“My main thing is to say thank you to everyone that helped me and my husband.”

Retired engineer Mr Clark, of Long Lane, Bovingdon, was kept in hospital for a few days while he recovered from the hit near the junction with High Street.
