A total of 19 cars were targeted by vandals in little more than 24 hours in two Hemel Hempstead neighbourhoods, police say.

The spate of criminal damages – involving the windows of vehicles being smashed – took place between 3pm on Thursday, March 19 and early the next evening.

Mindless incidents such as these cause an inconvenience and cost the vehicles owners and it is important we trace those responsible.

PC Mark Emerson

Police patrols have now been stepped up in the Bennetts End and Leverstock Green areas of the town, where the attacks took place.

The crimewave has been described as ‘mindless’ by investigating officer PC Mark Emerson, who said: “As there have been a number of incidents it could be that the person(s) responsible may have been in the area for some time and I would be keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious between 3pm on March 19 and the evening of March 20.

“Mindless incidents such as these cause an inconvenience and cost the vehicles owners and it is important we trace those responsible.

“Please be reassured that officers are carrying extra patrols in the area and offering crime prevention advice.”
