Youth theatre on a Mystery mission

Berkhamsted Youth Theatre will be digging deep into the roots of drama when their new production goes on stage at the Court Theatre at Pendley next week.

As A Roaring Lion is billed as a mystery play, and has been created by veteran director Bill Oram.

It tells the story of the life of Christ, using elements of mask-work, movement, tragedy, comedy and great dramatic action.

It’s pesented in the style of promenade theatre, in which audience members generally stand and walk about rather than sit, watching the action happening among them and even following the performers around the performance space.

That means the Court auditorium will be transformed, with cast and audience occupying the same space, so prepare for surprises on all sides as you interact with the performers and are drawn into the story – but watch out for Satan and all those little devils!

The show runs from Thursday, November 29 to Saturday, December 1 at 7.30pm with a 2.30pm matinee on the Saturday.

Tickets are priced £6 to £10 from Beechwood Fine Foods, 42 Frogmore Street, Tring, HP23 5AU; Berkhamsted Imaging Centre, 226 High Street Berkhamsted, from 01442 873069 or online at www.courttheatre.co.uk
