The Reddings Primary School in Bennetts End has enjoyed a summer of sporting success, winning both team and individual trophies.

In the annual Dacorum Primary schools Athletics Championship held at Jarman Park, The Reddings dominated in the small schools section – winning the competition by a healthy 10 point margin.

This is the first time the school has ever won the trophy and it is also the last time as it will be entered into the medium school category next year with its ever expanding cohort.

The success did not just stop on the track, however. The school rounders team remained undefeated in the Dacorum School Sports Network league and won the division – beating Leverstock Green, Belswains and Brockswood along the way.

This was followed by a respectable third place finish in the DSSN Rounders tournament.

Individual success has also been seen at The Reddings, with three students and the school nominated for awards in the annual DSSN awards evening.

Millie Robson Hewitt came runners up in the Upper Key Stage 2 Young Sports Achiever of the Year award, while Charley Broux won the Lower Key Stage 2 Young Sports Achiever of the Year award.

The School was also highly commended in the category of School games award.

Subject leader Martin Prickett said: “This success is deserved – the learners work very hard in both lessons and clubs within school.

“They can now see what this effort has brought them and, just like the Olympics, we hope this inspires our younger children to dedicate their time and effort in the future.”
