A determined runner from Hemel Hempstead will tackle the NSPCC’s MK Half Marathon to raise vital funds for the ChildLine Schools Service.

Tom Renphrey, from Tower View, will be racing with other athletes along the 13.1 mile run, which takes place on Sunday July, 6.

Tom, 48, who manages a home delivery business said: “I took part in 2013 and really enjoyed it but ran terribly so wanted to put that right!

“Like a lot of charities, I suspect funding is difficult, despite the great work that the NSPCC does to help protect children.

“I have a 15-year-old son so the charity is one that is close to my heart and I really hope to raise awareness of the vital work they do across the UK.”

In the half marathon’s 16th year, the NSPCC is urging people to take part in the run which winds through scenic routes along the new city’s redways and the Grand Union Canal.

Over the last 15 years, the MK Half Marathon has raised a huge amount to support the work of the NSPCC, and last year reached the £500,000 mark.

This year, the charity hopes to bring in at least £50,000. Visit www.nspcc.org.uk/miltonkeyneshalfmarathon for more information.
