Deadline nears for Gazette Cup entry

editorial image

THERE is not long left for cricket clubs to submit their entries to this year’s Gazette Cup and Under-15 Peter Wright Trophy competitions.

A number of clubs from in and around Dacorum have already signed up for their shot at lifting the coveted trophies – and this year’s tournaments promise to be fiercely-contested affairs.

Both tournaments – sponsored by Hemel-based Adex Interiors – will be played in a knockout format following a straight draw, which will be made here at The Gazette.

The Gazette Cup will cost £30 to enter, while Peter Wright Trophy entries will cost £20 – cheques should be made payable to The Gazette Cup.

The Gazette Cup final will take place at Hemel Hempstead Cricket Club on Friday, July 13, with the Peter Wright Trophy final scheduled for Thursday, June 28 at Kings Langley Cricket Club.

Tring Park will be in no mood to surrender the Cup they won last year, while teams will need to beat holders Kings Langley if they want to get their hands on the trophy.

To enter either competition please fill in a coupon – which can be found on page 74 of this week’s Gazette – and send it to Sports Desk, The Gazette, 39 Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1LH by Friday, May 4.

The draw, and the deadline by which games must be played, will be announced in the Gazette on Wednesday, May 9.
