Tring Park cruise to emphatic win

THE Tring Park first XI made it three league wins on the spin with a crushing 10-wicket victory over Burnham, setting up a mouth watering clash with leaders High Wycombe next weekend.

After a delayed start, Burnham chose to bat first and reached 91-2 at lunch with the highlight for Tring being a wicket for debutante Sam Shearman.

Burnham made steady progress after the interval until the introduction of spin twins Keith Dutch and Michael Payne, who claimed three wickets each as the visitors collapsed to 195 all out.

In reply, Tring openers Fahim Qureshi and Lloyd Paternott attacked Burnham’s opening spin bowlers with relish and moved to 150 without loss off just 27 overs before tea.

The end of the contest came soon after the break, with Fahim completing a maiden hundred for Tring and Lloyd ending unbeaten on 88.

Meanwhile, the second XI secured a hard fought four-wicket win over Wokingham.

Tring’s Richard Yates took 4-30 and Wokingham slipped to 198-8 after a strong start.

Richard Ambrose hit a rapid 56 for Tring in reply, but they had a scare at 146-6, before Greg Proudfoot and Toby Wastling produced an unbeaten match-winning partnership.

Elsewhere, Ben Criddle’s 62 was in vain as the third XI lost their last five wickets for 17 runs in a 13-run defeat at British Airways, while Nick Wake hit an unbeaten 106 as the fourth team lost by five wickets to New City MK.

In other action, after a washout on Sunday, Tring Park CC staged the 10th Tring Town Sixes on Monday.

In a pulsating finish, The Castle retained their trophy as they beat A C Daniels by one run.

The plate competition went to Frosty Bails ,who beat The Pheasant by 13 runs.
