The Dacorum & Tring AC Road Runners were out in full force at races across the south-east region over the weekend.

On Saturday, ultra long-distance duo Jamie Marlow and Duncan Hamilton took on the Thames Trot Ultra 50 mile race from Oxford to Henley – finishing in 7 hours 37 minutes for 32nd place overall out of 230 starters.

Due to extensive flooding in the Thames Valley, the course was slightly altered, and included a variety of roads, very muddy trails, some hills and foot-deep icy water along parts of the Thames towpath.

Also in action on Saturday, Helen Reardon smashed her PB over 10km at Eton Dorney, finishing in a time of 53m 03s – a massive 2m 59s faster than her previous best.

On Sunday, Andrew Cracknell showed he’s in fine form for the spring marathon season, crossing the line at the Watford Half Marathon in a time of 1hr 14m 55s – good enough for 11th overall out of 1,746 runners and first overall from Hertfordshire.

He was followed by Richard Smith, running in the V40 category, who finished in 1:50:34.

Next over the line was Jessica Tanner in 1:52:40 and Martin Kerr, who took an incredible 20 minutes off his personal best to finish in 1:55:16.

Hannah Cracknell was next home for the D&T contingent, crossing the line in 2:01:25 with Kirsty Russell finishing in 2:15:29.

Russell’s race in Watford is part of her Five Races in Five Months Challenge to raise money for SANDS – the stillbirth and neonatal death charity.

Watford was her second race of the five, after she completed the Walt Disney World Marathon in Florida three weeks ago.
