Adiel Mannion was the hero for Leverstock Green as he struck in the 90th minute to earn a point for his side against Colney Heath.

With Levy trailing 1-0 through an 86th-minute Jamie Eaves goal, Levy looked to be heading for defeat until Mannion fired home James Dabbs’ square pass from the penalty spot to snatch a draw.

The visitors had the first near miss of the match in the fifth minute when Eames hit a shot across goal and just wide.

There was a great chance for Green in the 12th minute when Curt Dizon went clean through after playing a one-two with Mannion, but he scuffed his eventual shot wide.

Colney were denied a penalty midway through the first half when the referee failed to spot what looked a blatant handball by a Green defender, and both teams continued to create opportunities as half-time approached.

The second half saw fewer chances for both sides but Green keeper Tom Coulton was forced into a fine close-range save after 70 minutes, with Mark Shadbolt clearing the rebound off the line.

Three minutes later Coulton saved again, scrambling across his goal to turn a free-kick from Eames round the post.

Leverstock went close on 75 minutes when Kris Tyrell hit a shot across goal and Dizon just failed to make contact as he slid in at the far post.

The game looked to be heading for a goalless draw until three minutes from time when the Green defence failed to clear their lines, allowing Eames to shoot home from six yards.

However, the Leverstock side did not let their heads drop and fought back strongly – allowing Mannion to level things up.

Both sides could have won the game in stoppage time but the two goalkeepers produced excellent stops – one resulting in a suspected broken hand for Coulton – to ensure that the hard-fought clash ended all square.
