TRING Athletic’s worrying run of form continued with a 1-0 loss at Aylesbury which sees the side slip to fourth place in the league table.
Having occupied second spot for the majority of the season, Tring will need to arrest a run of poor form if they are to finish as MSSML Premier Division runners-up.
In a scrappy start to the game, Aylesbury had the better of the chances before Tring found their feet and had opportunities to score through Ryan Redford and Nick Jackson.
Athletic’s best effort came in the 28th minute when Redford came close to finding Ashley Addison at the back post after a good Jackson delivery, but the bounce of the ball eluded him.
Aylesbury, though were the stronger of the sides at the end of the first half and found the breakthrough four minutes after the restart as Danny Jones’ free-kick evaded everyone and nestled in the back of the net.
Tring toiled but could not force an equaliser and Aylesbury held on to win.
“We’re pretty down at the moment, but how we haven’t got something out of that game I don’t know,” said Tring boss Phil Casserley.
“It’s disappointing, but that’s football.”
