Berkhamsted were left frustrated again on Saturday as their SSML Premier Division fixture with Hertford Town was cancelled due to a frozen pitch.
Despite some late morning sunshine, a heavy overnight frost left the Canal End of the pitch frozen solid and the match officials had no option but to postpone the game – with the fixture rescheduled for Tuesday, March 17.
The Berkhamsted reserves had better luck with the weather down in Farnham as they played their first competitive match since before Christmas.
However, the game ended in a 2-1 defeat, with Jay Caines getting the only goal of the game for Berko.
Weather permitting, the first team now have three important games in the space of eight days.
At the time the Gazette went to press, Berko were preparing to visit Leverstock Green in the quarter-finals of the Herts Senior Cup.
The prize for the winners is a home draw in the semi-finals against the winners of the Hemel Town versus Watford tie.
On Saturday it is back to league action for the Comrades with a trip to London Tigers.
The following Tuesday, Berko entertain London Colney in the Herts Charity Shield semi-final.
Berko’s reserve side play host to Camberley Town on Saturday.
