Berkhamsted 0-2 Ware

Berkhamsted rounded off their programme of pre-season home friendlies with a defeat to Ryman North side Ware.

Jimmy Martin put the visitors in front in the fifth minute when he ran down through the middle and fired home.

However, Berko began to find a foothold in the game and carved our some decent chances of their own.

Josh Chamberlain squandered a glorious opportunity when he completely misssed the ball when well-placed in front of goal, while Connor Calcutt looked dangerous but struggled to threaten Ware keeper Rhys Madden.

Aime Blessing added a second goal for Ware on the hour mark, when he ran clear and rounded the exposed Carl Tasker in the Berko net, before slotting the ball home to wrap up the win.

The Comrades’ U18 side, meanwhile, beat Chesham United 3-2 with goals from Ashley Morrisey, Jordan Aikman and Yusef Seodl.

On Saturday, Berko start the season in earnest, playing Hoddesdon Town at 3pm in an FA Cup tie.

The match will take place at Waltham Abbey’s ground, as Hoddesdon do not get use of their own ground until September.
